Yesterday I went and shot the UFE Spring Bash. For those of you who don't know what it's about, it's a fitness competition where athletes come and show off all of the hard work they out in over the course of many months and years.. It was held at a high school out in Port Credit Ontario.Shooting a show of this type proved to be very challenging for the simple fact the lighting sucked! Do get even a decent shutter speed I was pushing my old D200 to iso 1000 to get 100th of a second shutter speed. I pretty much had to rely on all of my knowledge and things I have read about low light photography and put it to good use. I felt like running out and grabbing a D700 or D3s right after the show, for those of you who aren't camera techies, those two cameras are probably the best low light camera's on the market.
The experience overall was pretty good, not knowing what to expect I thought there might have been more opportunity to network with the competitors and to try and market my photography a little bit more. I have been getting a lot of interest with the Facebook fan page, hopefully it will translate into something good in the coming weeks and months.
Above you see one of the shots from yesterdays cometition, believe me it's harder than it looks. You can checkout the rest of the pictures on my Facebook fan page.
